Freecreditreport.com Has Received My Lawsuit

Consumerinfo.com (the Experian subsidiary that owns and operates Freecreditreport.com) has received my lawsuit, and I've discussed the case preliminarily with them.

Their records show that I visited their site in 09/03 and that my card was charged 10/03. This is incorrect - I visited their site and my card was charged on the same day - 11/03/03.

I'm waiting to hear back from them after they reinvestigate the dates of the credit card charge. I'm confident that they'll resolve this amicably with me, as their attorney made it quite clear they don't want to litigate this.

Has anyone else gone to these lengths against Consumerinfo? The attorney claimed I'm the first...

Free credit report .com is not to free. I called to cancel my membership, but they are still charging me $7.95 a month. I have to close my checking account to get a new account so they will stop charging me. It's a big scam the attorney general of California should look into.

I went to freecreditreport.com signed up and went back the next week to cancel but was unable to cancel. I called my credit card company to cancel it because that was the only way I knew to keep them from charging my credit card in 30 days. I was still too late. When I received my last bill from my credit card company, freecreditreport.com had already charged my card. I paid it and went on thinking "another lesson learned in life". Please include my name in any future testimonials. I can be contacted at 501-268-5324 ext. 118 or e-mail me at lwudz@hotmail.com.

I have had same problem, man the lengths that people go to to earn a buck makes me sick, feel free to contact me for these concerns badmoterfinger@attbi.com or phone (630)479-3446

Wow... These guys are still at it... I canceled my account the day I signed up for their worthless "free credit report". Of course the next month I was still charged $9.95. I'm curious to go back a month on my statement and make sure I wasn't charged previously... I canceled again by phone, any bets on next month's bill?

Experian and all of its Satan-spawned subsidiaries should be burned to the ground and the people that work there should be imprisoned for the rest of their natural lives.

My wife and I were considering the purchase of a vehicle last fall. In November, I went to the freecreditreport.com web site to see about getting a free credit report. Once I was there, it was obvious they wanted you to sign up for a free trial membership for their credit monitoring service (another complete rip-off). I decided, since I’ve had trouble canceling other “free trials” in the past (AOL AOL AOL for one) that I would just purchase the credit reports for my wife and myself. I did so, paying the $27 or so per report.

From here, two important things happened. First, we went car shopping with credit report in hand and found that the Experian reports we received from freecreditreport.com were about 50 points lower each than the Experian credit reports that a banker friend of mine pulled that same day for the auto loan. Apparently, freecreditreport.com simply provides CRAP for credit reports. Rip-off number one. LESSON LEARNED: Order your credit reports from the companies themselves, and NOONE else. Even though Experian is demon-seed, their report was significantly different from the one freecreditreport.com provided.

Second, I, too, was billed the $79.95 on March 7, 2005, months after I had gone to their site. The idiot I spoke with said that I had signed up for the trial membership and had not cancelled. Wow, what blatant dishonesty they’ve apparently instilled in their phone operators. After threatening to call everyone from police to lawyers to attorney generals (which I’ve done anyway) she offered to cancel my account and refund a prorated amount to me. Wow, talking about adding insult to injury, “Hey, I just STOLE $80 from you, here’s half!” So I’m waiting for my refund, posting complaints onto every white space on the internet and with attorney generals in three states.

I hope these people are sued until their parent company Experian goes bankrupt. May the fleas from a thousand camels infest their crotches.

If anything comes of this I too was a victim of this companies fraud. Cancelled my account two times within the 30 day trial and was still charged. Please contact me via email if a full on lawsuit is started representing the victims of this fraudulent company.

After canvassing their website I was not able to find a link to cancel my membership. I spoke with a customer service rep named Janet. She told me I could do it online using the "contact us" link. I go to that link and it has nothing about cancelling my membership. So I call back to cancel my membership over the phone. I speak with another guy who states that their database is down and I can call back in 24 hours to cancel. I tell them that I need to cancel today or I will be billed for another month of service. I asked if I would be charged anyway if I cancel tommorrow since it's their fault their database is down. The rep says "I don't know". What kind mickey mouse company is this?

I just (litterally sec's ago) got my "free" credit report. Is there any reall way to get them to cancel you membership? Please email me- 78bill@gmail.com

man i was thinlking about signing up for my credit report from freecreditreport.com, thank God!!!!!!! I found this site... sorry guys, for them taking you all through this mess...

I am glad I visited your site before giving my SS # at freecreditreport.com. Now I know better! I was able to save myself some money and aggravation by not completing their online application.

I am also glad I accessed your page before I signed up for the free credit report. I know it's little consolation to the many people who were scammed by Experian, but thank you for taking the time to post your messages. It saved me money, time, and patience. All of which I have very little of.

I signed up for a free 30 day trial. In order to avoid a 12.95 fee I needed to call within the 30 days to cancel. I called within the 30 days and after going through 10-15 minutes of going through the benefits over and over, I was specifically told it was cancelled and I WOULD NOT be charged. I checked my bank account today and sure enough there is the 12.95 charge. I called them and actually got the same lady I talked to last time. I know this due to her very distinctive voice. I told her I cancelled the service and she actually laughed at me and said NO you called for information but you decided to keep it ... HA HA! NO!!! She said sorry for the misunderstanding .. but there was none.. working previously in sales I knew at the time of cancellation to specifically say NO! At this point I was very understandably upset and asked for a supervisor.. She refused all 5 times I asked and then told me she would issue a refund for the 12.95 charge and send an email to confirm. Instead, I got an email that said "No FURTHER charges would be be processed" THe email listed nothing about the credit I was promised. This will make the third time in 2 phone calls I have been outright lied to. Something needs to be done about this company.
I called back to ask if the refund had been cancelled and the lady I spoke with didnt ask me for any identifying information except what the credit card number I was expecting the refund on.. That was very suspicious to me so I refused the info and gave my name only. Now reading all these complaints I am very upset that my personal information/bank information may be used in future.

i went to freecreditreport.com,,, put my visa information and they scam me, this is not right,, But now i'm going to my lawyer,, I should say to everyone Don't trust these companies

Yea add me to the list , Did anyone notice the check box on the first page when you signed you that opted you into the 12.95 charge? I did and I canceled it right away, and here I am 5 months later still being chared. Called them they claim I never called to cancel and could only give me a 2 month refund. BS!

I just had a similar shaddy experience. I've used the site for about a year just accessing my experian credit report, but decided I needed to take a look at all three of my reports. I purchased these from another website(because they were cheaper) and all of my scores were significantly higher. My Experian score was more than 40 points higher than the score reported by Freecreditreport.com. I just called to cancel and the girl kept me on the line for about 10 min telling me she was pulling up my account with all kinds of excuses of why they couldn't get it to come up. Eventually she says she was able to cancel it. I will be calling my credit card company to make sure they don't approve anymore charges from them.

FREE CREDIT REPORT IS A SCAM! I am so aggrivated I just got off the phone with those ignorant customer service representatives who barely speak English. I am extremely frustrated with Consumerinfo.com I checked my bank statement today and realized that I was charged a $12.95 fee. I had no idea where this charge came from and then I realized that I was charged for 2 previous months. After screaming at 4 csr's today I was credited back 2 months worth of charges ($25.90) but they really owe me 3 months worth ($38.85). In order for me to get full payment back I need to write a letter and believe me I will be writing that letter. I will tell them how I really feel about there company and how they should be ashamed to work for such a SCAM!

Does anyone have a number that I can actually TALK to someone? I haven't been able to get more than just recordings.

I was able to cancel minutes after signing up. I'll check back in a month though to see if there are any charges.

They got me too. If there ever is a group lawsuit, count me in. We trusted them with our most sensitive information and they abused it.

I bought the credit report and thought it was being sent to me. I didn't have a printer to print it off and received nothing, except a charge on my card. When I called they told me that they didn't send out anything you had to get it off the internet. They told me they wouldn't cancel the charge but nothing further would be charged. When I called my credit card company to cancel the charges they told me that another charge had been put on by them for something else that they claimed was being sent to me that never was. These people use the law as it helps them but do not comply when it doesn't. I have disputed several credit card balances and they send out letters saying that if you don't disagree within 30 days they will assume the account is valid but, if you disagree within 30 days they will send you proof of the account. I have done this with several companies and not once have they ever provided me with any proof or even responded. In every case they just sell the account to someone else and ding my credit again. They know nothing can ever be done to stop their bullying Gestapo type of conduct.

Not only did they charge me even though it is supposedly a free credit report service, but my credit report was not even accurate. It told me I had more credit accounts open then I've ever had in my life. I've never had a credit card and it said I had like 3 running at the time. I also just called to cancel my "membership" and the lady starting reading a novel to me and i had to cut her off 3 times to say I just want to cancel and that's all there is to it.

Im having the same problem too - I cant even get them to answer the phone to cancel it ! - This is crazy - where are the attorney generals on this one?

wow since 1994 this has been happening and on 07/06/07 it is still happening. We should really be doing something about this. For all the money they have stolen it is insane. mastersu8john@yahoo.com is my email if there is a group suing on this...please contact.

I began filling out the application to get my free credit report on the site. I thought there was too much fine print so I began reading it and they wanted my credit card info. I stopped the application and didn't agree to their terms.

I was using a new email account on that site.

Ever since then my email inbox is flooded with many offers with my maiden name, street address and other info that I have never given anywhere with that new email account. The offers are for credit reports, credit monitoring agencies, home equity loans and mortgages.

I highly suspect that even though I didn't complete my application with them and although I never got any of their services nor a free credit report that they are selling my personal data on mailing lists.

Groan.

We are investigating a class action lawsuit against freecreditreports.com. If you are interested in participating e-mail me at Stalley@kcrlegal.com
